one invisible substance

When I think about the ‘substance’ of God, I consider this idea: before the creation of the Universe, there was not anything but God.  Genesis 1:1-4 reads:

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while the Spirit of God swept over the face of the waters.  Then God said, “Let there be Light”; and there was Light.  And God saw that the Light was good; and God separated the Light from the darkness.

When God created the Universe, what was there to create it out of, except out of Itself? God is the substance from which the Universe is created. As expressions of God, we too are creators in our own right. We create with our thoughts and feelings and words. We have the Power to mold the One Invisible Substance, the “stuff” that is God, AND we are using that Power all the time, even if we are unaware of it.

There is only One Presence, One Power, One Substance, and we are expressions of that Power, that Presence, that Substance.  We are creating our world, our experience, using the Substance that is God and that we are also. We are the Substance of God!  So we already have everything we could ever desire, we have only to mold it and bring it forth into manifestation by focusing our Thought and speaking our Word.

edwene gainesIn her book, “The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity”, Edwene Gaines says,

Some believe that money is a spiritual symbol of invisible spiritual substance. Spiritual substance is what the mystics call the invisible body of God out of which all things are created – your clothes, your jewelry, you shoes, and the chair you are sitting in. It’s all created out of one invisible substance called the body of God.

Here is a quote from Charles Fillmore, co-founder of the Unity movement along with Myrtle Fillmore, from the book “Dynamics for Living“:

There is an invisible thought-stuff on which the mind acts, making things through the operation of a law not yet fully understood by man. Every thought moves upon this invisible substance in increasing or diminishing degree. When we praise the richness and opulence of our God, this thought-stuff is tremendously increased in our mental atmosphere.

And this is from “The Revealing Word“, a metaphysical dictionary also written by Charles Fillmore:

revealing wordSubstance

The divine idea of the underlying reality of all things. Substance is everywhere present, pervades all things, and inspires to action. It underlies all manifestation and is the spiritual essence, the living energy out of which everything is made. Through substance all the attributes of Being are expressed. It sustains and enriches any idea that is projected into it.

Let us affirm the words of Mr. Fillmore:

we are all angels

In his book “The Revealing Word”, Charles Fillmore says that an angel is “a messenger of God; the projection into consciousness of a spiritual idea direct from the Fountainhead”.

we are all angelsWe all carry messages for each other.  We are the living Spirit of Truth, the Word of God made flesh.  Your life is a message, and that message is important, for you carry a Divine Idea within you that longs to be given conscious expression.

Martha Graham said it best when she shared this Word:

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.”

Let your Word, your Message, be known today, Angel.  Speak your Word of Truth, declare your Goodness, and share the Blessing that YOU ARE with all of us.

i think it – i speak it – i write it – i live it

emma curtis hopkinsEmma Curtis Hopkins, New Thought pioneer and Teacher of Teachers, tells us, “There are three ways of dealing with the principles announced in Truth. There is the deep thinking which the mind exercises respecting them. There is the speaking them forth which we do not hesitate to do. There is the careful recording of them, which is writing down what we know of them. The next is living them, which we are sure to do if we think, speak, and write them. It is by faithfully doing all these things with Spiritual doctrine that we accomplish the works of the Spirit in us.”

THINK IT
I think thoughts of Truth.  What is Truth?  I am everything that God is expressing at the point of me.  I am made in the image and likeness of my Creator.  God is Love, so I AM the Love of God.  I hold this thought consistently and my mind is renewed.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind. – Romans 12:2
Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus.- Philippians 2:5

SPEAK IT
I speak my word with authority, as Jesus did, claiming my Good.  I do not beg or plead, rather, I declare and claim the Good that is mine by right of consciousness.
Until now you have not asked for anything in my name (nature, character, authority). Ask (declare, call forth, claim) and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. – John 16:24

WRITE IT
Writing down my thoughts and feelings brings them into concrete manifestation.  It helps me to be clear on the Most High Good that I can conceive, and to discover anything that I am holding in mind that is standing the way of that Good.  Having an affirmation on my refrigerator, on my mirror, on my desk, or in my car reminds me of my intention.
Jesus answered, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, you are gods’? – John 10:34

LIVE IT
I practice this process by choosing a quality of Spirit that I desire to express, and I use a statement similar to this:

I AM THE LOVE (or Power, Life, Light, Wisdom, etc.) OF GOD.

If I find myself speaking or thinking contrary to my Idea, I negate it with a statement such as this:

THIS THOUGHT (or feeling, event, person, etc) HAS NO POWER OVER ME.
and I continue to affirm my Truth!

My negation and affirmation could look something like this:

These feelings of loneliness have no power over me,
because I know that I AM the LOVE of GOD!

NOTE: by using “I AM” we are invoking the Name of God that was given to Moses in the Hebrew Bible: the I AM that I AM.  Use phrases that resonate with you, because it is important that you generate a feeling with your statements of Truth.  The Law of Mind Action tell us that THOUGHT plus FEELING equals OUTCOME.

I THINK IT – I SPEAK IT – I WRITE IT – I LIVE IT!

not biting the hook

Quote

In Tibetan there is a word that points to the root cause of aggression, the root cause also of craving. It points to a familiar experience that is at the root of all conflict, all cruelty, oppression, and greed. This word is shenpa. The usual translation is “attachment,” but this doesn’t adequately express the full meaning. I think of shenpa as “getting hooked.” Another definition, used by Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, is the “charge”—the charge behind our thoughts and words and actions, the charge behind “like” and “don’t like.” Here’s an everyday example: Someone criticizes you. She criticizes your work or your appearance or your child. In moments like that, what is it you feel? It has a familiar taste, a familiar smell. Once you begin to notice it, you feel like this experience has been happening forever. That sticky feeling is shenpa. And it comes along with a very seductive urge to do something. Somebody says a harsh word and immediately you can feel a shift. There’s a tightening that rapidly spirals into mentally blaming this person, or wanting revenge or blaming yourself. Then you speak or act. The charge behind the tightening, behind the urge, behind the story line or action is shenpa.

You can actually feel shenpa happening. It’s a sensation that you can easily recognize. Even a spot on your new sweater can take you there. Someone looks at us in a certain way, or we hear a certain song, or walk into a certain room and boom. We’re hooked. It’s a quality of experience that’s not easy to describe but that everyone knows well.

Now, if you catch shenpa early enough, it’s very workable. You can acknowledge that it’s happening and abide with the experience of being triggered, the experience of urge, the experience of wanting to move. It’s like experiencing the yearning to scratch an itch, and generally we find it irresistible. Nevertheless, we can practice patience with that fidgety feeling and hold our seat.
